Benefits of the Cocurricular Record
In order to give students an additional edge as they apply for employment or
graduate schools, Truman will produce an Official Cocurricular Record.
Students can request this record be sent to employers or graduate schools as a way of
verifying achievements. Activities included in the Official Cocurricular
Record are verified by faculty and staff creating an official document produced
and distributed at the students' request by the University.
Benefits:
- Documentation: The Official Cocurricular Record provides
documentation for the student regarding their accomplishments outside the
classroom.
- Complete Picture: The Official Cocurricular Record provides
prospective graduate schools and employers a complete picture of a Truman
graduate's accomplishments and experiences when viewed in conjunction with
the academic transcript.
- Historical Data: The verified data collected in order to produce
the Official Cocurricular Record is stored in our student information
system (Banner) allowing Truman and graduates to assess the out-of-class
experiences and keep historical data useful in alumni programming and
development activities. This data is also important in assessing
patterns and impact of out-of-class experiences. The data is available to
the student after graduation for future requests.
Benefits for faculty and staff include the opportunity to interact with
students out of the classroom regarding these activities, and the ability
to gather data and create reports and statistics that will tell faculty and
staff more about their students and the things they are involved in.
