The Employment Advantage program is unique to Truman State University. The purpose of the program is to recognize distinctive campus employment opportunities designed to achieve University learning outcomes and the students who successfully perform in those positions. Student employers must complete an application process and participate in periodic reviews for those positions included in the Employment Advantage Program. Academic credit is not received for these positions but students completing work experiences in Employment Advantage positions can have the experience listed on their Official Cocurricular Record.
Scholarship, work study, and institutional positions can be considered for the Employment Advantage Program. In order to be considered for inclusion in the Employment Advantage Program an employer must submit an application that includes a description of the position; identification of learning objectives and transferable skills achieved as a result of performing the job duties; a listing of strategies and activities utilized to achieve the various learning outcomes and transferable skills; a description of how opportunities for reflection are included in the employment experience; a plan to measure achievement of learning outcomes and transferable skills; and a description of the process for employee, employer, and employment evaluation. Applicants will also submit their preferred Quadrant from Truman State University’s Out-Of-Class Experience Planning Map and a rationale for its selection.
